I was ingtrigued with this GLOBE DUO when I saw it in a local advertisement. I am currently using SMART services for my mobile phone since 1999 and Smartbro for almost 3 years now for my internet connection. For landline I am using PLDT Wireless sim. Everything is going smoothly and haven't encountered any problems with these services. The only hassle for me is the metered calls with my PLDT wireless sim. The P300/mo. which is 2.5 hours/mo. is not enough. Most of the time I consume more than P300/mo. And also it bothers me that every 5 or 10 mins. the line is cut and I have to redial again to connect. I cannot stay long to talk on the phone with my pldt wireless sim. I don't know if I am the only one who experience it. But in totallity all these services which I have right now, can be trusted its reliability. As long as you have a load you can call anytime and anywhere with no problems with connection.
About switching to GLOBE, I was hesistant at first because I had previous bad experience with Globe. I applied for Globe Speak and Surf P999 (landline plus broadband). They gave me a receipt and a wireless phone and modem which is not working. They said it will take 7 days for activation and I patiently waited but it took an eon to oblivion. Still there's no service from Globe. It was 3 years ago and for the first 6 months I made follow ups and nothing happened. Until I finally gave up. It was clearly bogus. I later on found out that there are still no Globe site in our area and that they are still working on it. Darn, why are they selling something that isn't working?
After 2 years, here goes again. Globe has finally breaktthrough with this GLOBE DUO sim unlimited landline service. Its very interesting as I wrote and commented in one of the blogs. I'd like to try and give the benefit of the doubt that Globe still works. I can spare to waste 450 registering fee for duo landline and the price of the sim. Its not that expensive though. Maybe, just maybe this thing really works.
Some of the thought that makes me wanting for Globe Duo.
Its kind of a hassle to me bringing 2-3 phones everywhere I go. So, when I heard about this I was hoping that I could be using only 1 or 2 phones. So, I bought a globe sim and registered it to DUO. Simply type DUO MM 450 and send it to 8888. It took me several tries to get to register and finally I got the confirmation and my landline no. is 02-500xxxx. I tried to ring it using my smart mobile and it did. I was so happy that it is working. I texted everyone telling them my new globe nos. But when I finally got home, I was trying to make an outgoing call, but unfortunately I can't. I tried PLDT and there's no connecting tone. I tried Bayantel but it says Call rejected. I tried digitel and it seems to work but I don't know anyone who uses digitel. I just dialed my old digitel no. that isn't connected anymore. A friend of mind called using bayantel and we talked for 11 mins. Her voice is clear and loud so as mine too, she said. There's no static, and she wants to know how this duo works. She's also planning to register to duo, since she's already using globe mobile. But I already warned her that as of now I cannot make any outgoing calls.
Just as i read in Yugatech blog about the feedbacks of duo clients, it seems that the connection problems started last Aug14 that nobody can make outgoing calls anymore. I was unlucky to be caught up with this technical problems. Someone said, she can make outgoing calls but cannot receive incoming. And when she reported it to fix the problem, after she can receive incoming and not an outgoing call anymore. When I called the globe hotline they told me that as of now we really can't connect to pldt lines since they are currently restoring the connection with pldt. They can't give any assurance when will this be settled and fixed. Its kinda annoying but still I am hoping that they can restore it the soonest possible. My 450 is about to go to waste if I cannot maximize it for 30 days. We should get a refund for the days lost since we've registered by the days.
I had to reload my pldt wireless sim to make outgoing calls for now. I paid 450 for duo and can't get the services I needed. Maybe it should be Globe duo Unlimited incoming calls, there's nothing different with pldt, since it also has unlimited incoming calls and limited outgoing calls. But right now my Globe duo has unlimited incoming calls and no outgoing calls.
I am still hoping that GLOBE DUO is REAL. Because its really a fantastic and awesome deal. Just make it RIGHT and make it WORK.

CARLO CAPARAS AS NATIONAL ARTIST 2009?
The awarding for National Artist 2009 was not as peaceful and ordinary awarding like it used to be from the previous years. The commitee for NA has carefully chosen four(4) candidates that they think was deserving and qualified for the title based on their standards and qualifications. They submitted it to President Arroyo for approval.
The final result given by the President was seven (7) candidates. The President was entitled to add only one (1) NA as her prerogative, according to a decree and Presidential Executive order. She disregarded one artist from the original list and added four (4) instead.
This incident has clearly violated the rules and bypassed the NA choosing process. This 2009 National Artists Award has become a turmoil that Philippine National Artists Awardees and ALL concerned artists, students, citizens and even government agencies protecting the credibility and cultural heritage of the Philippines, the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP), and National Center for Culture and Arts (NCCA) has joined the FUNERAL March for NATIONAL ARTISTS last August 7, 2009.
All participants has worn black as a statement for the death of justice. The Award for National Artists in the Philippines is a prestigious and highest award giving body to Filipino Artists. It is of great honor to belong and categorized as a Pambansang Alagad ng Sining. This award acknowledges an artist's great contribution to Philippine Art and Philippine History. It is of by honor and virtue that an artist is rightful to this category.
And so, concerned people marched and showed their distaste in the NA Awards 2009. Many National Artist Awardees were present in the event, including film directors, visual artists, writers, professors, artists, musicians, students, and some public figures in the film and music industry were present.
There were some issues that was raised:
1. First and foremost, there was a legitimate procedure in choosing for National Artist. It was made by selected and credible "proper" authority whom chosen to be seated to do this tasking.
2. There were rules, guidelines, qualifications and standards that should have met by the "nominated NA's."
3. The National Artist Award is a prestigious, honorable and highest award that a Filipino can receive. Therefore, it must be given to those who truly deserve this award.
These three (3) points listed above was the simplest points that should be followed. Nonetheless, there was nothing to be questioned about. But, the saddest and most infuriating of all, these three points was violated.
1. It seems that the authority of the President was over-powered by the 'proper authority" of the NA committee. Instead of adding ONLY one, she added four NA's.
2. The most controversial, so-called National Artist Awardee Carlo Caparas was not included in the final shortlist but was surprisingly present in the final National Artist Award.
3. Since the public and concerned artists, National Artist, film, media, musicians, writers, etc. has voiced out their distaste and opinions for including Carlo Caparas as National Artist, these people
believe that there are other artists "more" deserving to receive this award.
As the heated issue goes on, Caparas believes that he is more than deserving to receive this award. So he believes himself and a few people. Therefore, there is no way he's gonna give up this award.
For those people who strongly believe that there has been a political involvement and manipulation in this NA Awards, they have already done their individual right and freedom of expression. Regardless of the validity of this award given by the President, but in the eyes of the people there's a question of the authenticity and truthness of this award. There's a glitch that one cannot truly claim of something that he doesn't deserve of something that he and only he claims.
Though we are a democratic country and believe to have democracy, still we are suppressed and tied with invisible chains.
